Features Bargarh Dhanujatra
Dhanu jatra is the worlds largest open air theatre that has an annual audience at the Bargarh District of Odisha from 4th day of Pousha to Purnima of Pousha.
Its a 11 day Theatre that is based on that tale of Lord Shri Krishna and Kansa Maharaj.The Jatra has also a mention in the Guiness book of world record.The jatra was performed in the year 1947 for the first time after India became independent.During the Jatra Bargarh becomes Mathura, the kingdom of Kansa Maharaj and a nearby village of Ambapalli becomes Gopapur where Lord Shri Krishna is growing up with Mata yashodha and Nandaraj.14 different sets are created in bargarh and 4 sets in Ambapalli to showcase the various events in the lifetime of Kansa Maharaj.The city is coverted to a mega theatre and Kansa Maharaj becomes the ruling king for those 11 days and does Nagar bhraman everyday.
The city also witness a mega fair and a wide variety of handlooms and handicraft from all across the country are showcased.
